Over a Century of Raising Dairy Cows

Our family-run farm includes acres of fields to grow food for our herd of cows, a vast eight-acre barn, plus a nursery barn and a hospital barn. The milking parlor is also separately housed so that the cows have plenty of room to eat and sleep.

It takes about three minutes for the milk to get from the cow to a refrigerated truck, where it then goes to be pasteurized, homogenized, and bottled. As soon as the milk finishes that process, it goes right back into a refrigerated truck to keep fresh.

We keep our pregnant cows separate before, during, and after they have their babies, so they are not stressed, and so their babies don’t get separated in the big barn. As for our sick cows, we also keep them separated in a hospital barn to recover faster.

Our open stall policy allows the cows not to be kept in individual stalls and move around as they please in the barn. After picking up leftovers in the barn, we place fresh food and use the scraps to create mulch for our fields.

We believe that implementing new technology benefits our cows. We use a no-till planter to plant about 2,000 acres of corn. Our farmers also use the whole plant to feed the cows and create silage piles to ferment cow food.

If you have ever bought food from the Coventry Farmer’s Market, you know how fresh the fruits and vegetables taste. While we do not attend this particular farmer’s market, you can get fresh-baked goods, freshly made cheese, and puddings, just as fresh as the products you find at the farmer’s market.
